Union Pacific System, Descriptive & Illustrated.

...The Overland Route to the Rockies and the Pacific Coast. (1893)

This CD contains the page images and searchable text from a rare 270-page illustrated guide to travel by the Union Pacific (America's first transcontinental railroad) nearly 30 years after the golden spike was driven.

The guide includes an extensive narrative of the travel experiences provided in 1893 by the Union Pacific Railway system. Approximately one quarter of the book is comprised of full-page sepia engravings of sights along the railway routes. The remaining half of the pages are enchanting period advertisments for businesses serving or served by the railway.

Also included on the CD are an 1888 UPRR Route Map and Profile,
and a 1900 UPRR Route Map.
